Troops of the Indian Army deployed at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) have received an initial consignment of extreme cold-weather clothing from the US. Pictures of the soldiers dressed in their new gear and clothing have now been circulated on social media.
It is being seen as a major boost to India's preparedness to take on the Chinese on the LAC.
Government sources told news agency ANI that the Indian Army usually maintains a stock of 60,000 of these extreme cold weather clothing sets for troops deployed in the entire Ladakh region, including both the western fronts in Siachen and Eastern Ladakh sector.
There was an additional requirement of around 30,000 sets of extreme weather clothes this year as close to 90,000 troops were deployed in the region in view of the aggression by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) along the LAC."An initial lot of extreme cold-weather clothing from the American defence forces have been received and are being used by our troops there," government sources told ANI here.
